David Akers Kicks for Kids is a charity organization that provides assistance to the children and families being cared for at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
David's desire to give back to the community, as well as to help young people and families in need, motivated him to establish the David Akers' Kicks for Kids organization in the fall of 2001.
In Loving Memory
Our friend and board member Joe Brancato was recently diagnosed with cancer and has passed away. Joe was part of David Akers Kicks for Kids from the beginning and his committment to the foundation whether it was wrapping gifts, giving out Thanksgiving turkeys or helping to set up an event was a great asset to Kicks for Kids. His enthusiasm and sense of humor were gifts that he shared with all who knew him. Donations in Joe’s memory can be made to David Akers Kicks for Kids.

Ask David: Featured Question
Pam, Bill, Kenny, Christian and Caitlin Cossaboon asks... Just a note of thanks for visiting Kenny and his friends at Camp Little Rock today! He was very excited to place his autographed photo on our fridge and he still proudly wears his Akers jersey that you signed for him a few years ago:) You are our family's favorite football player along with Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow - can you guess the commonality ? (that's our Ask David question) I'm sure you can, but we so appreciate the role model that you have become in our community and are praying that God keeps you safe during this upcoming season!
Thank you for your kind words. I get so much enjoyment out of being with the kids at the camp every year and having that yearly connection with them. God bless and see you next year!
Olin Wright asks... Which team puts the most pressure on you when you kick?
I know this might sound cliché, but preseason to the superbowl I get just as nervous. Thanks for your question. Thank goodness for Pepto!
J. Hunter asks... Are there any other things that you did charity wise besides Kicks for Kids?
Yes, I have been involved with many different charitable organizations supporting research for Autism, Cystic Fibrosis and Leukemia. I am also involved with The Little Rock Foundation which is a wonderful resource for visually impaired and blind children.
Jack F. asks... What are some of the main reasons that you started the "Kicks for Kids" charity?
I was going to be a teacher if I didn't make it in the NFL. I actually was a permanent substitute for a while in KY after I got cut from the Carolina Panthers in 1997. I wasn't going to be in the military, law enforcement, or a firefighter. So this was a way to give back to the community that has been so good to me. Also, I believe that God has given me a platform to do His will and helping others is part of that. Thanks for the question.
Many blessings, David Akers
